Here's a quick review I typed up on my phone, so no pretty graphics this time.
I see mine is not a
popular opinion, and while I found this a thoughtful book, I found it took too long to get to the end. There are only so many times you can hear about them pitching their tent in bad weather.
Raynor Winn and her husband Moth find themselves homeless and without an income after their farm is repossessed. On top of that, Moth receives a terminal illness diagnosis.
This book follows their story as they choose to backpack 630miles along the coast. There is lots of descriptive writing, and they come across some interesting people.
The author circles back time and time again to what it means to be homeless and how society perceives those living 'on the streets.'
It's also a sweet lovely story. These two have a marriage that the rest of the world only sees in movies. Together they face how long term endurance affects Moth's body with his diagnosis.
But as I said at the beginning, it all could have been said in half the number of pages.
